What is Kybella?
Kybella is the first and only FDA approved injectable that improves the appearance of submental fullness often referred to as the “double chin.”

How does Kybella work?
When Kybella is injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys these fat cells, which are then naturally metabolized by the body. Once the fat cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, leading to a noticeable reduction in the fullness under the chin.

What does treatment day look like?
Topical numbing will be applied to injection site for improved comfort during treatment. The injection process takes about 5 minutes to complete. Your first icing session will be done immediately after treatment to help with an initial post-treatment discomfort.

What are the most common side effects?
Typical side effects after a Kybella treatment include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, and redness. Swelling can be mild to moderate and may take up to a week to resolve. It is recommended to avoid any strenuous activity for 72 hours after your treatment and drink plenty of water. We also recommend intermittent icing and Tylenol if needed for any discomfort.

How quickly will I see results?

Once injected, results of treatment typically take 10-12 weeks to fully develop.

How many sessions will I need?
Depending on the severity of submental fullness a series of several sessions may be recommended by one of our providers to achieve your desired chin profile. On average, it is recommended that at least two sessions be completed to see notable results. Treatments are typically spaced out 6 weeks a part.

How long will the results last?
When injected into the fat under your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment with Kybella is not expected.
